India Missed Tsunami Warning Despite 90-Minute Lead
Indian Ocean governments apparently have resisted participation in a tsunami warning system, believing it to be a Pacific Ocean phenomenon. 25,000 dead proves the contrary. The UN calls it an unprecedented disaster. The real disaster will most certainly be that the casualties could be doubled by after-effects like contaminated water, starvation, and epidemic diseases. Those kinds of problems, for the record, are solved by prosperity, which is in short supply for that part of the world, thanks in no small part to bad socialist thinking that has repressed the region's economies. The quake was large enough to move some islands by a measurable distance.
