The Republican National Convention launches NYC into fits and starts this week, and I'm having a couple of fits and starts myself.
How either party could win my vote -- and, I think, a whole lot of others:
- Admit that Social Security is broken and that a transition to private accounts has to start today
- Freely and openly advocate free trade, since it's the only way to ensure our place in the world
- Immediately engage more countries in expanded free trade agreements, like those recently brokered with Singapore, Australia, and Morocco
- Advocate real cuts to federal spending, and own up to them
