Is the Federal Reserve about to raise interest rates yet again? A lot of people holding debt on variable interest rates or who bought their homes on adjustable-rate mortgages are certainly hoping not.

Here's an idea whose time is certainly here: Katrina cottages, which are small but easily-fabricated permanent homes that can be rapidly deployed to a disaster-stricken area. It seems like these homes would be a much better option than FEMA's use of trailers to house people displaced by Katrina. Many of them are still living in those trailers.
