Somehow it seems like that's not enough -- open-source is a fine way to do software (and inherently tends toward security, since everyone has access to all of the potential flaws and thus has incentive to stop them), but at that rate, they're basically hiring five people to do all the checking. The Microsoft software monoculture is a pretty big security hole in our nation's infrastructure, so supplementing alternatives might be an efficient use of resources.
