At least he had a sense of humor and the humility to back off the omniscience schtick many other anchors embrace. Replacement Anderson Cooper is still getting clobbered in the ratings, but without Brown at the anchor desk, viewers aren't even getting decent news coverage; Cooper's style interferes with the actual reportage. In a bizarre move, CNN Headline News is hiring Glenn Beck and dumping the traditional 30-minute newscast for part of the evening.

Canadian Union Leader: If Conservatives Win, They Might Split Up Canada
Canada's elections are coming on January 23rd, and the Conservative Party is way, way ahead in the polls. Lots of people are voting early. Among other items of note, the leftist party more or less fell apart in the campaign. Related: Ads for "Democracy is Sexy" have been kiboshed in the University of Alberta and some nearby pubs. Despite the name, the Democracy is Sexy website is rather tame.
