Business and Finance Ford plans massive cuts to save company
30,000 UAW jobs and 10,000 salaried jobs to go, mostly in the next 12 months. Ford is down to 17.9% market share in the US, down from 20% in 2002 and much more in the 1950s.

It's probably worth a small marginal increase in risk to Americans (that is, risk that we won't find something out because we didn't torture) if, in return, a humane policy keeps us from creating vindictive enemies out of the falsely accused (because there surely are some), defuses the moral condemnation of members of the world community, and helps ensure that the information gathered from interrogations is in fact reliable (since some of the less-desirable methods don't even necessarily produce good intelligence).
