How to Get Rid of the High-Pitched Whistle on AM Radio

We've received more than a few comments that people are having trouble with their AM reception, specifically due to a high-pitched whine or whistle that they hear while trying to listen to WHO Radio.

In most cases, this sound can be done away with by one of the following steps:

Move the radio away from major sources of electromagnetic interference, like laptop computers and television sets
Move the radio away from fluorescent bulbs (including compact fluorescents)
Move the radio away from devices like rheostats (which you may be using to adjust your lights or fans in place of an on/off switch)

If you're hearing the interference in your car, you may need to replace your spark plug wires. Really.
