A number of prominent organizations and statisticians are lining up to suggest there's a bigger conflict between the use of carbohydrates for powering people and for powering machinery than previously acknowledged. At the root of all of this is that, aside from geothermal and nuclear power, virtually all energy comes from the sun. It may be changed or re-packaged along the way, but wind power, petroleum, coal, and ethanol all start with solar energy. Depending upon how that's collected and used, we may have some serious conflicts between uses of energy.
